Upright Piano Tuning Kit - 12 mutes, Gooseneck Tuning Lever, Temperament Strip

Specifically designed piano tuning kit for upright pianos. The kit includes a gooseneck piano tuning hammer, a thin temperament strip (you want a thinner strip for uprights, not standard size), and an assortment of 12 mutes that are the most common used for tuning an upright piano.

Star Tip: Even though tuning pins have square ends, the star shape permits you to set the tuning hammer in the best position. You want the tuning lever to be positioned nearly vertical or inclining slightly to the right. This is not always possible with piano tuning hammers that have a square opening.

Mute Kit (12 Piece):

• 6" x 1/2" Rubber Wedge Mute (Quantity 2)
• 6" x 1/4" Rubber Wedge Mute (Quantity 2)
• 2-9/16" x 1/4" Rubber Wedge Mute (Quantity 4)
• Rubber Mute with Wire Handle (Quantity 4 - the most common used mute)

Temperament Strip:

Used to mute two octaves at once by pushing between the groups of strings with a screwdriver or flattened hammer shank. This is the most efficient way of setting a temperament. Measures 50" L x 3/4" W tapering to 1/2" W. 100% wool. Thin, .135" thick.

For an upright piano, you want a "thin" temperament strip, not the standard size.
